Whether it is a family heirloom or
a
large municipal piece, for more than a quarter of a century
Ponsford has been building a worldwide reputation for its ability
to restore sculptures after vandalism, catastrophic weather,
neglect and unforeseen accidents.
We also have restored a variety
of metal and stone sculptures for institutions around the world.
Ponsford only uses methods and materials that are in accordance
with conservation standards and principles of reversibility,
with meticulous attention to detail and historical correctness.
We can even safely remove lead
paint and de-infest
wood sculptures without harmful pesticides.

Due to the location of this sculpture being so close to the Ocean, we decided to apply three coats of clear lacquer sealer first and then a wax coat on top.
We have found that it significantly helps to retain the finish in such a harsh weather environment where salt and moisture are constantly attacking the sculpture.
