Robert Todd Lincoln was the 1 st son of Mary and Abe Lincoln.
Robert Todd was their only son to live into adulthood. Taking up the practice of law in Chicago where he spent most of his adult life, he
was appointed the president of the Pullman Car Company.
In addition, he played a distinguished role in government serving as Secretary of War under Presidents Garfield and Arthur. Later,
President Ben Harrison appointed him minister to Great Britain.
Robert Todd Lincoln passed away in his sleep from cerebral hemorrhage. His body was moved to Arlington National Cemetery
on March 14, 1928.
